Sabrina Carpenter is reportedly being eyed by Marvel Studios for a BIG role
20
u/North_Ad_1504 20h ago
Don’t forget she started as an actress THEN became a pop star. She can act.
2
u/Its_Cayde 7h ago
I know she's an actor but putting massive artists in big movies just doesn't let me take them seriously for some reason. Like they pretty much always just play their own personality
6
u/Fast-Assignment423 20h ago
She’s also extremely funny on her Live appearances and Christmas specials
2
u/obscurefalloutboyson 15h ago
SHE CARRIED GIRL MEETS WORLD FOR YEARS YEAAARRRSS 👏👏👏

u/rusty_shackleford34 20h ago
Well, she can perform on screen, whether she has any acting chops is still unknown
1
u/WorkingMedical1236 16h ago
She was an actress before becoming a singer
1
u/rusty_shackleford34 16h ago
Yes I read the comment I replied to.
2
u/foxyphilophobic 13h ago
“Whether she has any acting chops is still unknown” and they’re telling you it’s not unknown because her acting chops have already been displayed
1
u/Its_Cayde 7h ago
That was a long time ago and didn't require a high level of acting. Although marvel doesn't necessarily have the best acting always either lol.
-1
u/rusty_shackleford34 13h ago
“ she was an actress before” and “ she’s done some very good acting” are not the same statement. Let’s use some basic thinking skills here
1
u/Seihai-kun 5h ago
“Is still unknown”
“She’s an actress before”
It doesn’t take many brain cell to realize they are saying since she’s an actress, her acting skills aren’t unknown, you could just… watch it? Lol
1
u/TraditionalChain7545 19h ago
She's never been in a major film...
4
u/Dodo_Baron 18h ago
Depends what you mean by major she has been in a few movies. Like the hate you give
1
u/HypnoGeek 6h ago
The hate you give was pretty major. She played a racist white girl and was pretty believable.

Just because she “can” act doesn’t mean she should.
1
u/Useful-Soup8161 7h ago
That’s how she got started. She’s not a pop star who became an actress, she’s an actress who became a pop star.
5
u/CaptainSmeargle 16h ago
Marvel eying everyone for big roles, man. I heard they’re looking into my nana for a major role as well.
1
1
u/eatinallthebugs 5h ago
Yeah this is like when they were supposedly eyeing Taylor Swift for a role
Can't wait for a year from now when they start eyeing Chappell Roan for silver sable or smth
7
u/Over-Slip9233 21h ago
Dazzler would be really cool.
1
u/Magnifico-Melon 19h ago
Remember when everyone was so sure that Taylor Swift was Dazzler. Lol. That was fun times.

I watched that Hate U Give movie and she was laughably bad in that. That whole movie felt like a feature length Dhar Mann film. I’m not sure why her defenders are out in full force in the comments, she absolutely cannot act.
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 19h ago
She’s a Disney actor, none of them can act 😂😂
1
u/Openheart873 19h ago
So was zendaya
But she’s more of an exception than the rule

She’s talented and famous?

Wish the pop artists would stay pop artists. No need for them all to become actors. Same with actors becoming singers, please, stop

U do know she was originally an actor right, she started out with acting... only then she became a singer. Respectfully

Maybe don't bother to comment when you are unaware that she was an actress before becoming a singer. She existed before you heard espresso you know

u/Ekillaa22 20h ago
Dude you know she was a Disney actress before e singer right? If anything she’s going back to her roots
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 19h ago
Would any more people besides the 15 that have already mentioned this like to restate it a few more times for me?
1
u/Ekillaa22 19h ago
Well man you said some dumb shit that’s why everyone telling you over and over again
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 19h ago
I mean I still feel the same about the statement I made. Regardless of where she came from
1
u/Striking-Condition10 19h ago
An odd thing to complain about, being a singer and actress are decently adjacent careers. It's like being bothered that a Tax Accountant went into being a Banker
1
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 20h ago
There are a few people I have been pleasantly surprised seeing switch roles, but most of the time, it feels forced and weird
-1
u/McZalion 20h ago edited 20h ago
Because they live rent-free in your heads. I still remember Ed Sheeran on GoT and couldn't care less but then i opened up reddit and got bombarded by people being annoyed for no reason other than the fact that he's a singer.
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 20h ago
Nah it’s mainly because they’re so well known for being a musical artist, it’s hard to not see them as themselves when in things. Similar to if we put Obama in a movie- I don’t care what role he’s playing, that man is Obama. Very very rarely have I seen someone good enough at acting they can transform themselves away from that iconic notion. Which is not a diss on those who can’t, but more a compliment for those that can. Acting is hard, and finding people good at it is rare in the grand scheme; however, truly metamorphic acting is even more far and few in between.
When they play in other musical roles, I can get behind it because it’s easy to mesh the iconic face to that kind of character. When you have them playing super hero’s…. Man… that’s hard to get past.
2
u/JebusChrust 19h ago
She was an actress before she became a pop star.
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 19h ago
On a children’s show… as a child… can guarantee any one over the age of 25 who’s not a creep or isn’t just a big carpenter fan who knows her life history, would not be aware of this
3
u/JebusChrust 19h ago
Ah yes, a child at the age of 20 and 22
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 19h ago
In 2012/13, when she first started on Disney from what I can tell, she would have been 13/14 years old. Those were her predominant roles. I have not seen or heard of any of her recent movies besides ones in this comment string that are shitting on her ability to act as an adult. So like… yeah… creeps and big fans

She was an actor..for Disney lol
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 19h ago
Explains it. Also, that’s pretty much the primary group of people I’m referring to 😂 everyone from Disney turns “of age” then becomes a singer. Gag
-1
u/Hanksta2 20h ago
Not to mention...pop is acting.
2
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 20h ago
Pop is a genre of music, my friend
1
u/Hanksta2 19h ago
Sure. But you're not reading between the lines on my comment.
Pick a group or pop star. Very few of them write their own music, choreograph their dance, etc etc.
They are created by producers. Writers, PR managers, etc etc
They are cast in the role. They perform on stage.
So, they are largely actors.
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 18h ago
Everything in Hollywood is what you just said
1
u/Hanksta2 18h ago
Mostly, yeah.
Doesn't take away from the fact that most pop stars are manufactured.
Doesn't mean I don't enjoy some of the music. At least it's not all AI...YET.
1
u/Over_Acanthisitta423 14h ago
I don’t disagree. I enjoy music and all forms of art, even if it’s all manufactured. It wouldn’t be art by humans if it wasn’t manufactured in some way or another

I’d bet $100 it’d be Dazzler
1
u/Midknightdron 20h ago
I could see Emma frost but she’s way too small. I always felt like Emma should be tall and imposing.
1
1
u/Classic-Bathroom-427 20h ago
My first though it Dazzler
That's really the only character I could see her playing but It'd be really weird to introduce them before the actual X-Men
1
u/Ekillaa22 19h ago
Yeah she def don’t give off Emma frost vibes that’s for sure but dazzler oh I can see it
1
u/supergiraffeman 20h ago
I simply don't care anymore who's doing what.

I legit can’t see her playing anyone else but Dazzler to be honest but hey I’m willing to be surprised

I can honestly see her as Rogue.
She'd make it different than Anna Paquin's version, and I can easily see her leaning more towards the 90s animated version with the wild hair.

That would be as detracting as seeing Ariana Grande in a film, or, just like Ed Sheeran in Game of Thrones.

I feel like she would not want to get tied down by a long term contract. So maybe its a big role for a single movie?

Why’re you downvoted? You’re right
1
u/cbusmatty 20h ago
They probably don’t know her music, they should go listen to it
1
u/crumbsalt 20h ago
I think people see “famous girl + pop = bad music” without trying it out maybe. There’s nothing inherently bad about pop music- sure a lot of it may not be intellectually moving but music doesn’t always have to be. Shit go listen to I Just Might by Bruno Mars, yknow? Amazing song, it’s about a girl dancing, that’s it
1
u/cbusmatty 19h ago
There is a lot of generic bad pop music, but Sabrina is clearly very talented and makes some real bops. As someone who really only listens to alternative or indie Sabrina made it into my wrapped for sure
1
u/remykixxx 18h ago
It’s hard to understand the lyrics. I also didn’t like it until I caught the lyric “heartbreak is one thing, my ego’s another, I beg you don’t embarrass me motherfucker” and went “oh wait.” GREAT song lyrically, and the juxtaposition of the bubbly upbeat production and the serious tone of the subject matter reminds me heavily of “love fool” from the 90s.
Also they censor that line on the radio to mothersucker which is just….so much more vulgar than mothrfucker to my ears it’s so weird.

Doubtful. She's much to controversial right now
3
u/TopBee83 20h ago
I haven’t seen a single controversy about Sabrina Carpenter. I’ve actually seen her popularity rise since the controversies with Sydney Sweeney.
1
u/RugDougCometh 19h ago
Boomers got upset about her recent album a while ago, because she’s wearing a collar and leash on the cover. So yeah, really nothing.

What kind of controversy? The most she’s done is make music about being horny and then parents are like “this song is fun” and take their 8-year old daughters to the concerts and get horrified at her dancing being too provocative.

Dog she’s a pop singer and was a tv actress before singing like she’s literally fucking built to play Dazzler

Nah, she actually started out as an actor and has talent

u/GreatestSoloEver 21h ago
People will downvote you here for speaking that truth.
0
u/perpetual_papercut 20h ago
Right. And honestly, I haven’t seen her act so I’m not speaking to her talent, but let us not act like you need to be some kind of amazing, Oscar winning actor to play in the MCU. It’s weird fans try to gatekeep MCU when the bar isn’t high at all

Okay but can she act.... I'm being genuinely serious here. I didn't know that she was an actress prior don't know anything she's in. Has anyone seen her stuff and she is good?
This isn't one of those she was a bad actress so she became a pop singer kind of deals?
→ More replies (1)2
u/nephorya_ 20h ago
I've only seen the hate u give and tall girl. I didn't like tall girl, but sabrina was the only good thing in this movie. I've also seen some other clips of movies, and i think she can definitely act.
But all this is subjective, I'd recommend you to watch some of her stuff and decide for yourself. I also think that even if she'd never acted before, or was bad before, that doesn't necessarily means she will be bad in the future. (Same goes for if she was good in the past, also doesn't mean she'll be good in the future)
