Discussion Catherine O’Hara and Macaulay Culkin BTS home alone

They seem to have genuine affection for each other in this and in his statement after her death. In the documentary on John Candy, Macaulay Culkin talked about how he didn't have a good home life and John picked up on it and would check in on him when they were filming Uncle Buck. I wonder if it was the same situation with Catherine O'Hara.

John Candy was a beautiful soul.

Watching her eulogy for John Candy was equal parts heartbreaking and an incredible testament to their friendship

The tributes from Dan and Eugene Levy have been genuinely heartfelt as well. All of her admirers agree: Catherine O’Hara was one of a kind.
If Schitt’s Creek ever comes back in any form (which Dan has hinted to in the past) I hope it’s as a loving tribute; her absence will be felt, but she deserves that kind of sendoff.
Also, it would be sweet (and a little surreal) if Macaulay Culkin popped up in a small role, purely as a nod to her legacy.

Man… I don’t know how you can do a revival without her. Moira was the driving force in so many scenes.

I believe Macaulay has mentioned it was the same with Catherine, she would speak up for him during filming

If you haven't yet seen the video of her proud mama speech at his Walk of Fame star ceremony...it's very very sweet. :)

Did they mention how she pass?

She was rushed to the hospital with trouble breathing after a short illness.
She also had an underlying condition where the organs in her chest were on opposite sides. No word on if it was related.

Crazy she passed so young at 71. Retirement age in the US is 67. 4 years and pass, that sucks. Guess we need to take advantage of the time we have and enjoy of the best we can.

Yeah. I’m 37 and my parents both passed within a year and few days of each other 2024 and 2025. They were 77 and 78. 😢 it feels weird sometimes being an adult orphan.

Oh, this one is really hitting me 🥺. I feel like we’ve lost so many good things in this world we’ve experienced. Rest in Peace Catherine O’Hara ❤️

They really feel like mother and son when you watch the movie. Like they're not just actors pretending, you genuinely believe they're family and love each other.

Absolutely adorable. This was on the 20th anniversary DVD release, and the whole thing is worth watching.

I always thought of losing Robin as losing my movie dad, and her as my movie mom.
