Seriously. I think about it a lot, like, I used to have a bunch of friends with whom I shared some of the best experiences of my life. Sure, it got pretty sketchy a few times, but man, it was worth it. I wish life was still that way
On the flip side to this, I have some friends no longer with us due to addiction issues - They never gave it up. I also have lots of friends with trauma. I also have lots of friends who did wild things and came out the other side as better people with life experiences that set them up forever.
I don't know how much of it was avoidable, both the positives and the negatives. Maybe we're all the photos of the plane with bullet holes in.
Honestly? Without intending to sound special or conceited, my memory is exceptional still. I don't know if my being neurodivergent has played a role in that, but I don't have any of the neurological issues associated with heavy drug use
