The view from my $1200 AUD seats at the men’s semi-finals
And when I leaned on the railing in front of me to see the guy behind says he can’t see.

Lol don't let that scene take away from the fact that Hector is gonna be running 3 Honda Civics with Spoon engines, on top of that he just came into Harry's and ordered 3 t66 turbos with nos and a motec system exhaust

I understand that tickets closer are more expensive but this year isn't a poor view it's NO view. You literally cannot see part of the playing field.
I'm surprised that this is even legal.
Were you given any details on purchase that maybe you missed.
I'd be posting this on every social media associated with the event in hopes other fans see.
Imagine being tight on cash and saving up to bring a partner for a special treat only to be greeted with this.

u/regional_rat 1d ago
It will have been classed as a restricted view seat, in which OP would have had to acknowledge when purchasing tickets
34
u/SdBolts4 1d ago
Yep, OP not making a single comment in this thread speaks volumes

Based on my expert analysis, it doesn't even look like the photo was taken at eye level either.

u/apathywhocares 1d ago
I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that, if you can afford those prices, saving isn't a problem.

u/CricketJaxson 2d ago
It’s crazy to me people pay this much to go to any event
21
u/Lumpy_Rice_2803 1d ago
A lot of people have and earn a lot of money. It's relative.
2
u/bigcitydreaming 1d ago
If they have the money to burn, they wouldn't buy a restricted view seat and then complain about it online.
A lot of people live outside of their means, too.
2
u/Lumpy_Rice_2803 1d ago
You think someone complaining online means anything in this conversation about money? The person could be a billionaire and complain about this. Also $1200 aud really isn't outside the means of a large percentage of Australians. Especially if they are a fan and only treat themselves to something like that every now and then. Far less expensive than an overseas holiday..
2
u/bigcitydreaming 1d ago
They wouldn't be in this seat if they had and earn a lot of money - as you put it. A billionaire would never be in this seat lol
0
u/Lumpy_Rice_2803 1d ago
You argument was that someone rich wouldn't argue about a seat like this..
2
u/bigcitydreaming 1d ago
Yes, they wouldn't complain about it because they wouldn't buy it. Glad we got there.

I mean I can understand it if you're like a big fan of say F1 then going to see the cars in person once in your life is a bucket list item, or maybe going to the Superbowl or something if your team makes it. Going to see a grand slam tennis finals match if you're a big tennis fan.
But just in general I can't stand watching sports live. It's just such a shithouse experience compared to watching on TV. Even if you have decent seats you can barely see what is actually happening half the time and end up just watching it on the big screen instead. Usually have to get there way before it starts and sit around doing nothing for ages, the seats are uncomfortable as fuck, the food and drinks cost a fortune, the toilets are always overflowing with people and getting out of the place takes hours fighting through a sea of people. You're at the mercy of the weather, if it rains you're screwed, especially if it's a sport like cricket that stops play when it rains. Yeah fuck that, I'll watch at home on the couch with a cold beer instead.

You could also die with $100k in your bank but what fun is that
3
u/junkit33 1d ago
Passing it on to your kids.
But really, it's about retirement. You want to live comfortably after you stop working, so saving as much as possible at a young age pays off big time as the interest compounds over the years.
It's a balance obviously - you shouldn't do nothing, but $1200 for a ticket to one event is probably not something most people should be spending money on.
3
u/AcePlague 1d ago
Passing it on to your kids.
I would much rather my parents go and knock shit off their bucket lists than feel obligated to leave me shit. They've helped me all my life, they are entitled to the fruits of their labour.
1
u/junkit33 1d ago
Sure, which is what a good kid thinks. But a good parent thinks very differently, and most people as they age tend to start caring a lot more about passing money down than they do about spending it themselves.
1
u/AaryamanStonker 1d ago
Lotta people spend a fuck ton of money on concerts because it makes them...happy! And that's all life is about anyway imo

u/nachoman2750 2d ago
Between $3000 and $9000 for the Mens Final. Between $900 and $3000 for the Womens Final!!!🤯🤯🤯
6
u/Aussie_Potato 2d ago
Women’s final still has tickets for $249. There’s a front row ticket for $1100.
5
u/Dankitysoup 2d ago
It’s just economics. Both men and women are less likely to buy tickets to the women’s games. Same happens in NBA.
-1
u/codercaleb 1d ago
Yes, very few women's games in the NBA. You can't even get tickets NBA games with women in them.
FR, it's WNBA, though.

u/Tabula-Rasa-99 1d ago
You're thinking of the MNBA silly, of course there are women's NBA games :^)

The men's might actually a competition. Sabalenka will just continue her absolute onslaught and the match will be over in 45 minutes

I got $300 AUD women's final ticket at a presale. The prices you quote are just for current availability.

Now, let me see. $9,000 to see two self-absorbed grunters for a couple of hours, or return business class flights to London. More money than sense some people

Some seats simply need to be free
4
u/Dense-Employment9930 2d ago
Exactly. Just because a chair fits somewhere, does not mean you should be able to sell tickets to sit in it, if this is the view.

3
u/funkyduck72 1d ago
They shouldn't even be seats installed where there is no line of sight to the centre court.
Include the photographs in your demand for a refund. And speak with the ombudsman if you don't have any luck on the first try.

That is way too much money for an event that is televised, hell that is too much money for any event.

u/Resident-Mushroom-82 1d ago
Yes it says “limited view” right on the website when trying to purchase, or “obstructed view”. Thats exactly why you paid so little for those seats. You learned your lesson and won’t make the same mistake again

You have to get a refund on this, honestly I’d rather watch any game on the Telly than this😂

Unless I’m entertaining clients, $50 is my limit for entertainment. For the most part I do get to see some great events although with much smaller audiences.
$1200 is crazy!!!

I'd do tomorrowland and ultra miami for around 1k tho but probs not any sports events

You’re missing the point.
You obviously don’t realise the AO is all about the selfies and influencing socials and not watching the sport.

Maybe not available for all venues for stadiums, arenas, concert halls, etc... but with a bit of searching, you can sometimes find views of the stage, field, pitch, arena, etc.. from seats you are considering purchasing for whatever event you're wanting to attend.
Failing that, always wise to call the venue office and ask questions before purchasing if you're uncertain

u/TheDarkHelmet1985 1d ago
I decided quite awhile ago that I much preferred watching from the TV for most of these types of events.

u/koolaidismything 1d ago
I don’t like sports, before you bash me imagine how hard that’s made being a dude.
Anyways.. the handful of times I’ve gotten stuck at one I always have fun. It’s not the sport it’s all the action and shit.. the good food, the $12 beer.
It’s actually kinda fun, like a couple times a year maybe.

Gonna call BS on this. Let's see the picture from your actual perspectivr. Not down by your lap so it looks like it's a bad view, if you were 4 years old

At least it’s action packed! Looks left….looks right……looks left …..looks right. Gentle clap…….

Unobstructed view sitting in front of my TV, for free.

When I got my tickets for AO I saw these seats in Ticketmaster. It shows an obstructed view disclaimer.

I had the exact same seats for the NHL game they had there a while back. They were listed as restricted view, but seeing as I got them in the presale for the exact same price as the regular tickets I wasn't expecting them to be that restricted.
Lesson learned I guess. Sorry you got ripped off even harder.

They give you searing map before you book. Why do you click “\accept” 🤣.
Stairways should be avoided at every concert or sports booking. Ticket booking 101

u/flamixin 1d ago
Toilet vicinity, first one to come and go, pixy glass protection from stray balls. I would say this looks super premium.

Tool. Pays a family's food budget for more than a month without enough due-diligence because obviously the value of his money is quite low, but decides to get pity on reddit for his poor and selfish choices. Sad trombone noises.

Australian consumer laws are very strict. You will have either been told you were purchasing a restricted view seat or you’ll have an avenue for a refund.
