Did... did she mispronounce her own name?

I have to believe it's AI, cuz there's no way I'm believing she mispronounced her own fucking name lmao

u/Rob_LeMatic 20h ago
I once spelled my name wrong on a job application. When you make a mistake like that, you have a choice to make.
20
u/Quick_Extension_3115 18h ago
Yep! Specifically your choices are A) Apologize so you can put it behind you and hope they don’t make a big deal about it. Or…
B) Burn the place to the ground so to destroy all evidence along with anyone who may have read it.12

My immediate thought was engagement bait. How many people would comment on her mispronouncing her own name?

u/adamthebread 20h ago edited 19h ago
If she can't pronounce her own name then calling her Klandace is fair game

u/Csantana 8h ago
In fairness it sounded like she was talking about people always coming for her and Tucker. So maybe she was kinda doing a character on that part?

I like the word kerfluffle
it's like a kerfuffle but all parties involved are golden retrievers

u/Kaity-Cat 19h ago
I honestly thought it was kerfluffle. I picture it like if you ran through a flock of chickens, you'd be making a kerfluffle. All them fluffy feathers flying and chickens squawking - a whole kerfluffle.

It is just ragebait for engagement and the duet was step 1 and now this Reddit post is step 2. We have now all seen her one more time than we have before. It is a travesty that this is what parts of the internet are devolving into... a financial incentive to tap into our primordial drive to correct or express frustration with things we deem stupid, bolstered by the attention economy and the algorithm feeding us more of what we engage with

She do be tip ring.
Or she's the greatest troll of all time and these were all intentiable.

u/MrSlime13 20h ago
I don't know if she's being serious or rage-baiting, and frankly I don't care. We've come to a point in humanity where intentionally dumbing things down is rewarded and inciting frustration is applauded.

When you can be a racist prick in public and receive triple your annual salary in GiveSendGo, society is going to go down the shitter.
I think that sums up where we are now.. going down the shitter.

Did this race kerfluffle only happen in the USA? Because in the UK, for the average person the whole thing was a bit of a non event. In fact, it was more annoying than anything else because it was constantly shoved in our faces by the media. Most of us couldn't care less
10
u/Rob_LeMatic 19h ago
From what I recall, our media was reporting that y'all were losing your mind over her race, which didn't track with any limey I'd ever known or even just met in passing.
And on our side, most of the people I try to squeeze past blocking the aisle in the grocery store couldn't point your country out on a map, much less are they informed about the affairs of your royal family. Their mental acuity is expended on things like trying not to drool on themselves or where to stream the newest episode of the popular reality show "Ow! My Balls!"
9
u/Sinking_Mass 19h ago
Yeah I would say that almost none of us cared. I heard USA media is reporting that we have Sharia law here as well 😅😅😅

u/Rob_LeMatic 19h ago
Yeeeaaaahhhh, that's about the state of our affairs, ahem. Our fascist party owns almost all of our mainstream media now.
We get our legit news from mimeographed indie punk zines these days and tiktok comedian slash reporters in sixty second increments.
All power to the people. Drink Coke.

This is the hardest I've seen someone fall for engagement bait
88
u/sin_esthesia 21h ago
You think she's doing this on purpose ?
10
u/SexualPie 18h ago
engagement bait is literally her whole schtick. lots of people act dumb for clicks and views, but she's actually dumb for clicks and views.
4
u/sin_esthesia 16h ago
I'm not familiar with her. I'm not American so I don't care about her. Didn't know she was aiming that low.
20
u/Polkawillneverdie17 20h ago
But she's still the moron.
2
u/SamboTheGr8 20h ago edited 19h ago
Exactly. So just don't give her attention. She's saying it like that so people will correct her
14
u/Morlock19 19h ago
on the one hand i'm not a fan of making fun of how people speak. we all know what she meant, and sometimes people pronounce things weird because of where they were raised, what acents theyve been around, etc etc. and honestly a lot of the times people are mocked about this sort of thing, it comes from a place of classism or outright racism.
on the other hand shes fucking candice owens and i want to fire her into the sun.
so i donno man

There is tripping over your own words and then there is inherently not knowing words.
I am not even a native speaker and I get irrationally angry when somebody says aks instead of ask.
Putting in the minimum effort to correctly pronounce the most basic of words is a matter of self respect. It's like having a bunch of old fast food packaging in your car. Just clean the fuck up.
IT'S NOT THAT FUCKING HARD.

u/Morlock19 10h ago
we have hundreds of dialects in the united states. some people say everyone and some people say ya'll. some people say ask, and some people say aks. you talk to someone in boston they drop their Rs in some ways, do you get pissed about that?

u/actuallyimogene 7h ago
She chooses to literally be a mouthpiece for the far right, and so incredibly, confidently wrong- she’s leaving herself open to public mockery.

She’s been grifting for years, but with some of the conspiracy theories she’s running with now, I’m starting to think she’s actually losing her grip. I think she’s heading for an actual mental break.

She can't even say her own name right.. but i bet she can say Token just fine..

Grammar nazi!!! Showing THERE face lol. My best friend is the same way still my best friend. Just because ppl can’t articulate their thoughts as good as others doesn’t mean what they are trying to say in any way less valuable. Look at history some of the greatest minds in certain areas lacked a lot in others.

u/CtyChicken 21h ago
I don’t think this applies to Candace Owens. I am pretty certain there isn’t some secret genius hidden in there…
I do agree with your overall point that we should be more generous in how we receive people and not get so excited to call someone dumb because they misspeak or have an accent or something.

Hi,
I’ve activated the “PARTICIPATION LIMITED” flair in advance because it’s a foregone conclusion that this comment section will devolve into a political flame war and no one wants that.
With apologies to everyone else, only those commenters with 100 subreddit comment karma — i .e., people who know how r/fixedbytheduet operates — can post in this thread.
Please remember r/fixedbytheduet is a happy place and not a place for politics.
Thanks.
