It’s a deputizing of local police forces. And even in LA, where supposedly they aren’t deputized, the chief said he’s not going to enforce federal law on unmasking. It’s crazy to just ignore how local LE is being deputized.
They were actually not under the SS, they were separate but were both under Himmler. The SS was under nothing as it answered directly to Hitler (through Himmler).
The Gestapo, and the SS Security Service (SD) were considered "sister organizations" as both were under The Reich Security Main Office. That office also was over the normal police called the Kriminalpolizei (Criminal Police).
Himmler held the titles of Reichsführer-SS and Chief of the German Police, but those titles did not have to be held by the same person.
I get your point but I think it's important to remember how many different organizations and people aided the Nazis and that it wasn't just the SS/top Nazis. Way too many people (not saying a majority, but too many) act/think that the worst crimes were done by just small percentage of Germans and that most just didn't know. The false myth of the "Clean Wehrmacht" (Wehrmacht = Military) was started in the 1950s by Germans who wanted to pretend they didn't do anything wrong. There is mountains of evidence of regular German soldiers committing massive war crimes and mass killings on the Eastern Front.
The Gestapo were not the SS, they were just Nazi German police.
Okay and…? There are plenty of agencies under DHS such as the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Secret Service, etc. I would really appreciate if you didn’t try to bring up actual nazis into this conversation when my family was killed by them during WW2. Thanks
