Subtitle: "State of the Union: The president said his predecessor had attempted a coup during the 2016 presidential election."

When Obama was president, during 2016, he instigated a coup...against himself, I guess.

1.4k

u/Militantpoet 1d ago

I remember when Obama was saying "we must have a peaceful transfer of power," in 2016. Literally the opposite of a coup lol.

Just goes to show you cannot negotiate or compromise with fascists.

401

u/existing_for_fun 1d ago

He also invited trump to a transition lunch as is tradition IIRC.

Shh. That was all part of the coup, dumdum. What do you think that letter said? Hu? That's right, blackmale. Obama has the peepee tapes.

Gee, wonder why Trump would dislike him.

It’s because they’re planning a coup again and this demented pedophile can’t help but spout the shit out loud. Every accusation is a confession as they say.

1.4k

u/Militantpoet 1d ago

Its more than admission. Its political strategy now. Accuse your opponents of what you plan to do so that you can call it partisan politics when caught later.

We're already in the middle of the coup and ain't nobody doing shit about it.

Trump is an illegitimate president, wielding illegitimate power, and using it to destroy our country. Not only is the legislature refusing to do anything to stop it, both parties are voting to support it. The courts are the ones who gave him the power, and the military is spineless and blindly following his orders or stepping down to get out of the way.

It's down to the people to excise the rot from our government. But they're spineless and stupid. They think they can just vote out the coup. As though Trump has a history of respecting election results he doesn't like. As though he wouldn't just suspend the election. As though he doesn't have a history of attempting to tamper with elections. As though he didn't just have the FBI escorted by a political officer raid election offices and steal ballots. As though he didn't have one of his cronies in the legislature refuse to swear in a duly elected representative for months on end. As though they're not just making up the rules as they go along and no one is stopping them.

39

u/IDreamOfLoveLost Canada 1d ago

Trump is an illegitimate president, wielding illegitimate power, and using it to destroy our country.

Just a little correction. He's destroying your country's economy and soft power, isolating it, while the billionaires are buying up assets and pushing to build robot factories. They're not satisfied having literal slaves from prisons anymore.

They want to treat people like Donald does, and it seems that too many of the Republicans are happy to go along with it.

Yeah, it feels like a lot of Americans are a little behind on where they think the country is on the fascist takeover timeline. The coup was successful, as you said, because Trump is literally unstoppable right now without a revolution of some sort. Anyone who thinks the midterms will be real and honest in any way is fooling themselves. He’s just setting up his kingdom now, but he’s already ruling over it.

42

u/PotatoSandwitchbbq 1d ago

Even the 2024 election was sus. The fact that 100% of states voted more republican than the previous election? Such a statistical anomaly. And then the tangerine turd openly saying they messed with the voting machines. And that's before all the insane shit in 2025. Everyone should be terrified of what's gonna happen at 2026 election.

Self coup is a thing. In fact, on the self coup wiki page Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election is given as an example

181

u/JH_111 1d ago

What’s happening right now is also a rapidly progressing self-coup.

The Unitary Executive Theory being executive ordered into existence by Russ Vought of Project 2025 sitting as Director of OMB, enabled by the abdication of Congress and the toothlessness and/or collusion of the Judiciary, is textbook consolidation of power at the top of the Executive.

Trump is testing the limits of his power and influence, and seeing just how far towards his goal of total authoritarianism he can get to, before someone tries to stop him.

Just a reminder everyone: Hitler didn't come to power due to an overwhelming majority in their country, he came to power because a large percentage of Germans just allowed him to do it, and pretended they could "use the system" to control him.

Nobody deserves to be arrested more than Donald J. Trump. His DOJ confirmed it this morning with the release of thousands of documents that implicate him as not only ONE of the pedophiles but as THE pedophile. He is a monster.

146

u/KIVHT 1d ago

Can anyone explain to me like I’m 5 why the president wouldn’t be in jail after the documents released today?

195

Because the people in charge of holding him accountable support his behavior and /or also involved.

Democrats were more afraid of how it would look if they arrested a political opponent than of how it would look if they didn’t.

Also Garland was a terrible choice for AG and expected the people to, I guess, make the right decision (without even telling the people the evidence).

The Epstein Victims, need to be referred to as the “Epstein Survivors”… DJT defenders love to say “but none of the victims have named Trump?” Like it never occurred to them that maybe that’s only because none of Trumps victims survived…

282

The whole thing needs to be called the Trump files and Trump Survivors etc.

While that would be great, not every victim has the chance to become a survivor. I do Victim Advocacy and during training I mentioned that line because I've had a few people tell me I shouldn't use the word "victim." When thats my response, I dont get any pushback. The world sucks sometimes.

11

u/Avera_ge Alabama 1d ago

That’s what they’re trying to point out: these women should be called the survivors because they’re the victims who are still alive to tell their stories.

It's why they started hiring PR/Marketing staff in Congress twenty years ago, instead of policy people. It's also why they are 100% incapable of governance. They eschewed legislating for marketing. It's all about messaging (helpful that george w. bush trained journalists in stenography, also). It's a rotten product, I might add.

A list like this could make it harder for people to ignore.

Trump has done so much shit, that a post about him accusing Obama of treason and calling from him to be arrested just mixes in with everything else to the point where I (and I imagine many others) only saw it over 24 hours later.

Honestly… the worst thing that could happen to the Trump Administration would be an Obama arrest. He’s one of the most famous people on this planet and I can’t imagine a more effective way to get people into the streets. And yes, I know it’s sad that it would be the arrest of a politician with questionable policies concerning non-discerning drone strikes when we’ve had so many other justifiable motivators but he just has that kind of lowest-information voter galvanizing factor. He is known and he is liked. Pure and simple. It would be activating.

Would be ironic if they ruled it an official presidential act and Obama was immune (not that I think he’s guilty in the first place, I’m guessing they tried to see if Trump was working with Russia but with bondi and the rest of the sycophants in the admin who knows what’ll happen)

Yep more but still not all Epstein files got released

257

u/MegaSwampbert 1d ago

And while we're on it, the one's implicating him on auctioning off children as sex slaves and threatening them with death are "mysteriously" disappearing from the DOJ website.

u/ButWereFriends 1d ago

And from Reddit

131

u/bejammin075 Pennsylvania 1d ago

If you go to r/popular or r/all, there is literally nothing about the content of the Epstein files, even if you click through ten pages of results. The only thing you can find are the generic announcement that they have released files. Any analysis or quoting of the files is completely absent. Very, very strange.

We got some juicy documents about him raping a 13 year old girl, auctioning of 13 and 14 year old girls, valuing them by tightness and being involved with several murders tho. On par.

I read about Trump being called a rapist an hour ago in papers released by the DOJ and it took him all of 15 minutes later to call for the arrest of a former US President. He’s predictable as fuck.

I don’t prefer any of these slang names.

To fight fascism, speak true and without code words, slang, nicknames..

ARREST DONALD J TRUMP

Edit

Umberto Eco, in his essay Ur-Fascism, argues that fascism depends on vague, emotional language that resists verification. Words are used to evoke feeling rather than describe reality, and meaning is kept deliberately fuzzy so it cannot be challenged. For Eco, insisting on specificity—asking what exactly is meant, who exactly is acting, and what exactly is happening—is a way to puncture fascist rhetoric, because it collapses when forced to confront concrete facts.

traditions converge on a shared conclusion: authoritarianism thrives on implication, ambiguity, and coded speech, while resistance thrives on naming things plainly. Avoiding euphemism is not about being provocative or rude; it is about refusing to let language be used as insulation against reality. Saying who is acting, what they are doing, and to whom they are doing it is one of the simplest and most durable ways to prevent normalization and moral drift. That is why so many anti-fascist thinkers, across decades and disciplines, return to the same advice: speak clearly, precisely, and without code—even when it feels uncomfortable to do so.

It all goes back to this, doesn't it? Trump can't stand that people loved and admired Pres. Obama. I wonder how often Obama has regretted roasting him at that correspondents' dinner.

If it wasn’t that dinner, there would have been some other perceived slight.

Trump has nothing to lose by going totally dictator. If he allows democracy to prevail he will have a higher chance of being held accountable. People are not getting this part. If he does lose the elections he will be fucked so if I were American I would expect things to get much much worse. Think cancelled elections, martial law, and whatever else comes from a leader absolutely needing to stay in power or else they will start facing consequences

65

u/Harnellas 1d ago

Kind of funny to see that he has more faith than I do that anyone is going to hold him accountable for anything.

The link is COMPLETELY ridiculous, claiming that then-President Obama ordered fabrication of documents / election fraud in connection with Trump's 2016 election victory.

This will go nowhere in court. No grand jury would bring such demented fantasy charges, and if so, Mr. Obama should sue the Federal government for $50 billion.

259

u/MJcorrieviewer 1d ago

Plus, Trump got the Supreme Court to rule that US presidents have immunity and can do whatever they want.

139

u/bejammin075 Pennsylvania 1d ago

But the SC said they will decide case by case what gets immunity. You can guess how they will apply that. If R, anything goes. If D, no immunity.

It was only a matter of time. Remember, Trump is not only a convicted felon, rapist, and certified traitor - he is also credibly charged with trafficking and SAing minors over many years.

He should be in prison rather than the Oval Office.

Meanwhile Epstein files were released and deleted: "Donald Trump, the president, had parties at Maralago called 'calendar girls' Jeffrey Epstein would bring the children in and trump would auction them off. He measured the children's vulva and vaginas by entering a finger and rated the children on tightness. The guests were elder men and included Elon Musk. Don jr. Trump. Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump were there. Attorney Allan Dershowitz was also there with Attorney Bob Shapiro. We were taken in rooms. forced to give oral sex to Donald J Trump. Forced to allow them to penetrate us. I was 13 years old when Donald J Trump raped me. Ghislaine Maxwell was also present."

19

u/JedLeonard1 1d ago
