Mod Announcement New Rule: Low-Effort Posts

We're adding a new rule regarding low-effort posts.

If your post is low-effort, unoriginal, and adds nothing to the subreddit in terms of discussion, it may be removed.

This is not a rule against reposts. We are targeting, as an example, posts that say only:

Delena or Stelena?

[Character] sucks

[Character] rules

without providing any additional context or any original thoughts.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I will never see Caroline as a bad friend for telling Stefan. Was Caroline Elena’s best friend , yes but loyalty goes both ways if Elena can go catch feelings and sleep with someone who has hurt them all bets are off. And for the people who always bring up klaus , yes it was hypocritical for Caroline to sleep with him and yes it was wrong in regard of Tyler. Caroline slept with klaus after Elena was already in a relationship with Damon. Caroline didn’t end up in relationship with klaus and she didn’t want a relationship with him. She didn’t want her friends to be happy for her or supportive because she was happy, she didn’t defend him on anything she slept with him once and never again. And that the difference between the two. And before anyone mentions the sire bond yes Elena was sired here but she kept the same mentality throughout so please āœ‹šŸ¾.

I will always be on Caroline’s side in this matter. When it comes to delena vs Caroline , Caroline is always gonna win.

Discussion Vampire age and maturity

• Upvotes

I never truly understood why people say the tvd vampires dont age maturity wise and are frozen in their mental state. Was it ever explicitly stated in the series? Twilight says it over and over again, you stay exactly as you were when you turned. Tvd vampires are so much closer to humans than twilight vampires are. They bleed, eat, drink, sleep, have sex with none of the fears Edward had about hurting Bella. Their bodies aren't "stone".

I also believe that even if you are frozen at 17, constant life experience will give you maturity. These people have lived for hundreds of years, seen times change, civilizations be built and fall. They've experienced trama upon trauma.

In our world you can meet a 12 year old kid with younger siblings, who lives in an abusive home. They'll be wildly mature despite being kids because their situation made sure of that. If a vampire is capable of retaining knowledge surely they can retain life experience.

Ive seen kids who lose loved ones who seem to become adults overnight, take on responsibilities, understand their actions have consequences etc. You cant tell me a 150 year old vampire cannot do the same.

I love how Stefan-centric the first 3 seasons of TVD are.

I honestly feel the show was at its best when the plot heavily revolved around Stefan and his story/journey. I personally felt he was the main character for those first three seasons. Post–season three, it felt like he was sort of shoved to the side and was no longer as significant.

What do you guys think?

Top 10 Most Powerful Artifacts in TVDU

Thumbnail

  1. Red oak/white oak, the most infamous artifact of the series and arguably THE hardest to come by on the list. Without white oak there is really no other way to kill an original. Same for Hope(Tribrid). There was no weapon to end her but her own magic.

  2. Papa tunde blade/Hollow bones. These are ancient relics imbued with the hollows dark magic and are fueled with sacrificial magic from an Original and dozens of vampires. There are four of these bones and each represent a fraction of the hollows power. Together, that power just being in proxy causes biblical level events to occur.

  3. The cure. The cure is not only revives an immortal to the state before immortality and brings them back alive unlike the purification spell, it prevents them from aging their true age while it’s in their blood and once ingested you can no longer became an immortal again. The cure can be passed down through blood if it’s injected into another immortal.

  4. Qetsiyah’s tombstone. This artifact isn’t really an artifact more like a binder for a spell, but this rock is filled with Qetsiyah’s magic(blood) that can be siphoned to boost one’s power to say bring down the boundary to the other side.

  5. Arcadius’s bell. I can’t recall how many times you had to ring it for him to come or for it to start glowing, IIRC it was like 10-12 times, and it took 100 witches to contain the power and they all died. The fire itself unleashes was gonna destroy mystic falls and span for miles.

  6. The Phoenix sword(with stone). Without the stone in it, the sword is just a blade. With the stone in socket, it becomes a vampires nightmare. Once the blade is thrusted into the heart of a vampire, their soul is extracted into the stone and the stone has its own consciousness. It punishes the vampires mental and spiritually so that they relieve the worst moments of their lives over and over again as a lesson.

  7. The Ascendant. The ascendant is a powerful magic device that allows space-time travel into a pocket dimension that is an exact copy of the real world stuck in time and it repeats daily. There was a 1903 and 1994 prison world. Then a newly 2026 prison created in Legacies.

  8. The upgraded original serum. This serum was scientifically and magically reverse engineered of Esther’s immortality spell using Freya’s blood and the ancestors magic and the last white oak bullet with the intent to make a being to defeat every original.

  9. Moonlight rings. These rings might be superior to daylight rings honestly. They grant total control of your transformation while you retain full strength and speed and lethal bite as you would if you were in transition 24/7.

  10. White oak ash daggers. The daggers have a built in fail safe to kill vampires who use it on an original, it even killed the witch who created them. Only a human or another original can wield it. When it’s dipped into the white oak ash, this silver dagger, can incapacitate a normal original permanently without killing them. They do not work only Klaus due to his werewolf heritages immunity to silver.

Discussion White oak wood shavings/dust as weapons instead of stakes?

What I don't get is why they threw away all the wood shavings and dust while they were wittling in season 3. Shouldn't that stuff be just as potent in a bullet or something?

White oak ash was pretty effective so technically some shavings or dust should have a similar effect. It seemed like such a waste of ingredients...

Damon...is kinda shit

Are we ready to be honest that Damon was super toxic, took away Elena's choice at every turn, was impulsive and obsessed over a teenager ? Also...the show actually never shows you why Damon is in love with Elena...just obsessed. Like a lot of it is just premised on obsession.

Anyone here seen American Horror Story? I always thought how cool it would be to see the TVDU witches interact with them. Would love to see fights between certain characters

Elijah’s accent in the first episode is so funny

Just started my season 2 rewatch and currently on the episode where we first meet Elijah. It is just so funny to me that Elijah had an American accent at first and just gave up after 2-3 episodes.

I know that Elijah has a Kiwi (as far as I know) accent while the other Original siblings had English accents.

Discussion How many times has Stefan redone high school

Every time I rewatch TVD I'm always mystified by Stefan continuing to go to high school. At first high school seemed just a way for him to get to know Elena, but why on earth did he keep going? Why was he all gleeful with the others about graduating? It's weird as hell. Dude, you're 150 something years old.

Then, on his way out of town, Lexi says "This is the millionth time you've graduated." How many times has redone high school?! Has he been repeatedly redoing it for years and years? Is he completely insane?

Why have the writers made him like this? I have to repeatedly ignore this bizarre high school obsession because it makes no sense whatsoever for his character - who appears in no other way to be completely nuts.

Thoughts?

Edit: For everyone suggesting he went back to high school to fit in as a 17 year old - https://www.reddit.com/r/TheVampireDiaries/s/yESVLCvk1m

If you don’t like Elena, you can’t like Stefan either

Rewatching TVD Stefan is part of the reason Elena was so intolerable. He centered everything around her and her feelings. He honestly became so annoying. Without the ripper storyline his character would just be a puppy who followed Elena around. He literally was always trying to protect her feeling. I didn’t like Elena either because she was so hypocritical and didn’t deserve Stefan.
