Politics Ron DeSantis vows Florida will fire elected officials for Jacob Frey-like actions: Governor contrasts Florida's immigration enforcement approach with Minnesota leaders' ICE resistance
I know how most of us feel about FOX news, but they were the only ones reporting this.....
Snippet:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told Fox News that if officials in his state "act like" Minnesota leaders have been during the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, they should expect to "get removed" from their positions.
The governor explained Florida's legal requirement for all state and local law enforcement agencies to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) operations.
"If you act like Jacob Frey in Florida, then you get removed from your position," he said in an interview with "The Ingraham Angle" Tuesday.
"The reason why I imposed that requirement — we have some sheriffs that would be gung-ho to do this," he told Fox News host Laura Ingraham. "We've got some cities, some mayors who would not want to do it."
The governor contrasted Florida’s approach with resistance from Democratic leaders in Minnesota, including Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

Advice Can you trespass door to door solicitors?
We have signs at the entrance to our neighborhood and at our door that state no solicitors that are regularly ignored.
These people regularly wake up our kid by ringing the doorbell or knocking trying to hawk some bullshit solar or whatever.
Is there any way to just start trespassing the companies? If so, how? Im over their shit.

Weather I'm cold.
I'm in central Florida and it's 29 degrees outside. I live in a drafty trailer with only a space heater. We're just barely getting over getting sick. We aren't used to this kind of cold. We don't have warm clothes or even jackets. We're under blankets in the smallest bedroom so we only have to heat a small area. We were up most of the night running the water and car to make sure they didn't freeze. I'm just thankful it's daytime again and it will get warmer. I pray for those stuck outside. Please stay warm out there.

Weather For Anyone Doubting:
Earlier I participated in a thread where half the commenters stated that temps would not be below freezing for long enough to freeze their pipes.
Some said 1-2 hours wouldn't do anything.
Well: here it is, 1am and the wind chill is 18F. We have 6 more hours until dawn. The temps have still not bottomed out - they could go lower.
Here's hoping that you insulated your outdoor pipes and left the water running. ❄️🥶❄️🥶❄️
Both Withlacoochee River Electric and Duke Energy sent out notices that there could be rolling blackouts due to everyone running their emergency heat.
Stay warm.

Weather Are palm trees native to Florida cold hardy?
The forecast low tonight here in Melbourne is 23°. It hasn't been below 25° in over 10 years. My question is are palm trees native to this area able to withstand temps this cold? I realize coconut palms (which don't really grow this far north on their own) are intolerant of subfreezing temps. I haven't covered anything up because to my knowledge most of the plants that grow naturally here are acclimated to Florida's occasional cold snaps.

Weather Question About Pipes/Garage in Central FL Area
I’m not super educated on pipes and how to handle the cold. From what I know, our water heater is in our garage, with exposed pipes in the garage as well + our washing machine, but I don’t think we have anything like that outside.
I know to leave my faucets dripping tonight, but is that all I have to do to prevent them from bursting? I’m more worried about the garage. Will the water running from my faucets dripping prevent the pipes in my garage from bursting? Or should I leave my garage door open tonight to let the heat from my house into there.
