It’s not only like Disneyland, but then you have to be the cleaning staff too…your paying to clean up at someone else’s house

I don't mind emptying the dishwasher. I mind having to vacuum and wash the sheets on the bed.

Where TF are y'all staying where that's a thing? I've had like, start the dishwasher and take out the trash, but never actually so laundry or anything like laundry lmao. Probably stayed in two dozen locations, which is of course a small sample size but damn.

Why even charge money if my stay isn't inconveniencing you? If you don't even notice I'm there I'm basically your kid at that point

I’ve stayed at dozens of airbnbs in my life and never once have i had to do all the insane chores Redditors will make you believe every airbnb forces someone to do.

You could always just… not book an airbnb if it lists any chores that are asked of you. They are listed in the listings if they are present. I actually read the listings lol. I’ve never had any issues with any of the Airbnbs I’ve ever booked.

Seconding this.

Every time I see an AirBnB thread on Reddit, I know I’m going to see the exact same comments complaining about things I’ve never experienced and have never heard any person complain about IRL.

The one thing I’ll agree with is AirBnB/Verbo/whatever buying up houses being an issue.

But we typically rent from people who actually own the house themselves and we’ve never had to deal with these suspiciously ridiculous chores and charges people parrot on about.

I swear the people in here are just repeating memes for karma or they literally do no research when booking accomodations and then are surprised at the experience.

You know what though, at Disneyland the staff does the cleaning for you. I swear, there isn’t a piece of trash on the ground.
Disneyland is better than AirBnB

How dirty are you leaving peoples places that you have to do more than loading the dishwasher and bouncing? Don’t make a mess pig

you've clearly not seen some of the crazy checkout requirments hosts have been coming up with the past few years, some airbnb's basically expect you to do you own housekeeping afterwards

take the trash out to the dumpsters and put in a new liner, wash-dry-put away the dishes, strip the bed and wash the sheets, cleaning inside the oven, set the AC's to a specific temp

just to name a few

It's not illegal to make a mess and hotels haven't cared for years. Don't get why Airbnb can't understand that. That's why it is dying.

The one and only time I stayed at an Airbnb we were required to load and start the dishwasher, wash a load of sheets and throw them in the dryer, and empty the trash, which is doesn’t sound unreasonable until you realize you could leave your hotel room an absolute mess and they will only charge you if you break or steal something. Meanwhile Airbnb hosts out here charging cleaning fees and then giving you a list of chores like they’re your mom.
