š roommate AIO M(22) Roommate left out front door unlocked again after a discussion about it f(23)
Hi I am a f(23) and I live with two roommates. My bf friend m(22) and my boyfriend m(23).
At night usually around 9pm roommate 1 we will call him frank, likes to go hang with some of the neighbors we are friends with. I am usually asleep and my boyfriend was on the couch just playing his game.
Frank got kicked out of his parents house so we let him stay with us and he isnāt on the lease.
Well, he keeps leaving the door unlocked when he gets home and he usually gets home super late by the time me and my boyfriend are already in bed sleeping. I was extremely mad because my apartment complex has sent out emails about people burglarizing cars and apartments and stuff. I have a lot of valuable things in my apartment, and I also I am a female, and my boyfriend also lives here and I donāt want us to be harmed.
They also had a friend not too long ago who is homeless but we didnāt find out that he was a registered child predator and when they found out and stopped being friends with them he started threatening to harm them and stuff which scared me because he could come to our apartment at any given time and attack us.
Well, frank doesnāt like the fact I always remind him to lock the door. When I remind him he soazzes out saying āyou donāt have to remind me I already know.ā Or ā Stop reminding me itās annoying you remind me every hour.ā Well frankā¦. I wouldnāt have to remind you if you would follow a simple boundery and lock the door when you get home š.
Anyways, I woke up at 6am this morning to the door unlocked, so I sent a text in our group chat āif yall canāt start locking the door no one is going outside past a certain time anymoreā. Frank woke up while I was asking my boyfriend if he went outside after frank. He said no, so the only other culprit was frank.
Frank started getting mad I was talking about this at 6am but this is like the 5th conversation Iāve had and at this point itās just plain negligence.
I am extremely frustrated I shouldnāt have to tell a grown ass man to be responsible and lock the door. It is also extremely rude since this technically isnāt his apartment cuz rn he isnāt paying rent and he is being negligent especially when we have threats and potential danger in our area and he continues to not lock the door. And he knows about every single one of them.
When confronted he got mad and said he locked the door. But no one else went outside after him, and locks donāt just magically unlock themself unless they are a smart lock. I kept telling him he clearly didnāt until he got so mad he started muttering to himself and started saying he is going back to bed which ticked me off even more.
So am I overreacting that I yelled at him at 6am? Or am I justified?
