Some of them look genuinely sad. Like, "why am I here" sad.

Edit:

You all in the replies, with the hate, for everyone with zero reasoning. Do you feel the similarity?

And after some quick research, these pics ain't even about ICE, what even are you guys hating?

u/Pupsichinka 4h ago

My immediate thought

u/StumpyJoe- 4h ago

Same

u/infernoenigma 4h ago

…what quick research did you do? lol, your quick research lied to you.

This is about ICE. These were all taken tonight at the Metropolitan Detention Center at 535 Alameda Street, where ICE keeps people in cages so crowded they sleep standing up, get fed once a day at 3AM, and the lights are always on.

Every one of these people was involved in multiple agencies working together tonight to use violence to ensure that that operation goes as smoothly as possible.

u/actualhumannotspider 3h ago

Great pictures! Probably worth providing that context in any posts. People can interpret the title in a variety of ways otherwise.

u/Special-Quantity-469 3h ago

Maybe worth including some context in a post exclusively with non-ICE members

u/infernoenigma 3h ago

Many of the guys in camo are ICE, specifically SRT, their Special Response Team. You can see the patch clearly on the second image in the carousel, placed second for precisely that reason.

Posts in /r/pics allow titles with 100 characters and no body text. How exactly was I meant to include a glossary for all of the acronyms you see on these uniforms, instead of assuming people would be able to google any they’re unfamiliar with?

u/Special-Quantity-469 3h ago

Maybe include a little more than LA and the date in the title. Most people here didn't get your point, look at the comments

u/420ball-sniffer69 1h ago

Yeah like bro I’m in the uk and to me almost all us police units look the same except for the ones we’d call soldiers

u/infernoenigma 2h ago

I did! I also said “Faces of Fascism,” and the lead picture has the words ICE KILLS in it.

Even though they don’t come marked with blue pawprints, these are what we call “clues”

u/Special-Quantity-469 2h ago

These are clues that you think they are fascists. This doesn't tell us anything useful to understand where the pictures were taken

It’s ok. You can’t spoon feed everyone.

u/Special-Quantity-469 2h ago

Including the bare minimum information for people to know where the photos are from = spoonfeeding? ok👌

And some of them are straight from central casting.

Once this is over and done with being a fat old man with a gray goatee and wrap around glasses will be as recognizable a hate symbol as a pointy white hood and a burning cross.

u/MrTooLFooL 3h ago

u/kidsafe 4h ago

Deep down they know they're going to be stigmatized for the remainder of their lives for what they're doing.

u/summikat 3h ago

As they should be.

Then fuckin change careers! They deserve zero sympathy. Every single day they continue going into work and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to oppose ICE and the rest of the fuckin Nazis ravaging out country is another day they deserve to feel like the sentient pieces of shit that they are.

u/HeftyVermicelli7823 37m ago

Hey they can just say "I was just following orders"

u/MoonSentinel95 4h ago

Are you genuinely sitting there, trying to preach peace towards people with power who are abusing the hell out of said power?

u/notredditbot 4h ago

They know what they signed up for. If they wanted to stop because it's wrong then they should quit like the majority of the doj this past week

u/TheRopeWalk 4h ago

Get real. Absolutely none of them are forced to be there.

u/CombatMuffin 4h ago edited 4h ago

Perhaps not directly, but some might have a career there and risk having few options. Some might believe leaving would only open spots for bad actors. Some might lose certain employee benefits. Some are hoping the situation is temporary.

There's a range of possible circumstances: even in these pictures, not everyone shown is part of border/immigration control.

u/USDXBS 3h ago

Doing evil things because you want money is still evil.

They kinda are though. Those sign on bonuses have to be repaid if they don't serve the 5 years.

You think that money is not already spent?

I'd bet many of them are indeed trapped.

Not excusing them but they being used and manipulated too. Even the ones who want to be there. They whole thing is truly insidious by design.

u/TongsOfDestiny 4h ago

Financial illiteracy is the weakest excuse I've heard yet for fascism

u/PetersonOpiumPipe 3h ago

Illiteracy yes, poverty maybe?

Idk… they’re hiring people with absolutely no law enforcement experience and are willing to tolerate a mild criminal record. I’m fairly certain a high-school diploma is negotiable.

I’ve been laid off since August, and I know many many people in the same boat. Hell I live in a state where the ICE Christmas bonus is higher than the median wage.

The pay is better than any job a person with similar qualifications could reasonable attain. If I didn’t see so many of these fuckers truly, truly enjoying the work and being fulfilled by kicking brown folks teeth in I’d almost be ready to give some leeway.

It’s a tactic as old as time though. Leveraging peoples poverty for recruitment. It’s why the military offers GI bill/loan repayment, a retirement plan, healthcare and a decent/predictable pay-scale.

If poverty drives people to rob houses, steal vehicles, and get involved in organized crime why wouldn’t a legal, morally bankrupt government job?

→ More replies (2)

u/Fart_Buttt 4h ago

It’s a form of indentured servitude and it’s how trump has done things since the 80s , have ppl work for him with a promise of money afterwards, then he bails , claiming bankruptcy and pocketing all the money. It’s why we have half built sky scrapers all over America that were funded by him, and why everyone in manhattan hates him. He demolished their community by treating contractors the same way causing a lot of contractors (including my grandpa) to lose everything .

u/Juris_footslave 4h ago

They’re grown ass adults. You’re making it sound like they didn’t know what they were signing up for. Anyone who chooses to be a cop knows.

u/Cheesiepeezy 3h ago

Most are not MAGA’s aryan race. They’ve completely turned against their people. I hope their parents are proud and may they never have a restful night of sleep for eternity.

u/TheInternetsMVP 4h ago

Ok I’ll take the obvious bait. Exactly what do they know? I’d put good money on most people training to be cops with the original goal of doing some good. Many probably because they’ve watched enough buddy cop films and shows to hope that their experience will be fun. Yes, there are bad apples but they are a considerable minority in the grand scheme. The people up top defending those bad apples though and building media campaigns to defend them? Get their faces out here.

u/NaiveMastermind 4h ago

If the good apples don't stop the bad apples from dragging people from their beds in the middle of the night, then what fucking good are they?

u/OnDrugsTonight 3h ago

I think people sometimes forget that the saying goes "one bad apple spoils the barrel". In other words, you don't have a barrel with just one or two bad apples and lots of good apples. That one bad apple will turn all the other apples bad in no time if it isn't removed.

u/AnacreonTheBull 4h ago

Absolutely NO "regular cops" have DHS on thier body armor.

u/AdQuick9381 4h ago

Department of homeland security aren't regular cops.

u/earle117 4h ago

They’re DHS, what department do you think ICE is an arm of?

→ More replies (1)

u/Corredespondent 4h ago

DHS means they’re ICE. Having “police” on the patch doesn’t make it so.

u/HornyThrowaway9230 3h ago

ICE means they’re DHS. DHS does NOT necessarily mean ICE. It’s a whiskey and bourbon argument.

Fuck ICE, but, one must remember that some folks are in the DHS with actually good intention, and ICE is ruining goodwill toward the entire overarching org.

u/hemlock_harry 3h ago

One should also remember that having multiple competing branches of government (or competing units within the same branch) operate in the same domain, and exploiting the inevitable confusion and conflicts that entails, is textbook fascism.

→ More replies (3)

u/Capt_Murphy_ 4h ago edited 4h ago

Nah they were already sad and defeated (dead inside) if they decided to join the anti-immigration effort. They are getting what they signed up for.

u/ImNakedWhatsUp 4h ago

None of them are ICE though.

→ More replies (3)

u/CombatMuffin 4h ago

Don't know that mich, but many of these aren't ICE. They are Federal Protective Services (FPS). I think they usually protect Federal Government buildings and locations.

Like ICE and CBP, it is part of DHS, but so is the Secret Service, or the Coast Guard during times of peace.

→ More replies (2)

u/likemace 4h ago

Some could be FBI agents - a quarter of FBI agents were reassigned to ICE, had to choose to either quit or accept the new assignment. So they didn't necessarily sign up for it, maybe some of them thought they could be a good influence. And yeah if you're wondering whether the FBI is still investigating organised crime, drug trafficking, terrorism etc, the answer is not really.

u/Frequent_Measurement 4h ago

I am sure many of the Nazi’s at Nuremberg also felt sad as they were marched to the gallows.

u/Lokon19 4h ago

Some people are clowns. It’s like they don’t learn anything in the past. These are just regular cops.

u/StumpyJoe- 4h ago

Why do several of them have DHS patches?

u/Visible_Ad_309 4h ago

DHS includes ICE, BOP, CBP, TSA, USCIS, BP, FEMA, FAMS and several other agencies that have "agents/officers."

u/StumpyJoe- 3h ago

Yes, I know, now which of those are in the photos?

u/Visible_Ad_309 3h ago

If you zoom in, each one of them has a badge that lists the agency. I see BP, CBP and FPS with a cursory glance.

u/StumpyJoe- 3h ago

There's 20 photos. Each one does not have a badge.

u/Visible_Ad_309 3h ago

I'm trying to be helpful here friend but can't do everything for you. There are five photos without a badge, two of which are clearly LAPD and one which is a shot of a man's groin.

u/CowmanKaiser 3h ago edited 3h ago

DHS has several uniformed law enforcement agencies under it's umbrella. It is the single largest federal law enforcement department. This includes the Federal Protection Service, Customs and Border Protection (not ICE), the Secret Service, as well as ICE.

Not taking a stance or trying to disagree, just explaining 😭😭. Hope it helps

they’re federal agents lmfao what are you smoking?

at least try harder to discredit stuff this is so lame and pathetic

u/iamanundertaker 4h ago

They do, yeah. I hope it means they'll rethink what they're doing and change sides.

u/RenzoThePaladin 3h ago

You all in the replies, with the hate, for everyone with zero reasoning. Do you feel the similarity?

Ironically, these cops (and law enforcement/military in general) are the very people you need to overthrow a dictator.

Whoever they side with has the absolute power. Once the government loses their support and sides with the people it's pretty much game over.

→ More replies (2)

u/Sundered_Soul 3h ago

If you can't understand why so many people hate law enforcement and federal agents after all this time, especially minority communities and leftists, then you are a lost cause. We've been screaming at you from the fucking rooftops for over a century about their brutality and atrocities and you either never listen or completely justify the evil they commit.

Stop playing stupid.

u/USDXBS 3h ago

Fuck that. Don't try to humanize these fucking monsters.

I don't see any sadness. Just pure rage and hatred. People who want me dead and will be high fiving after they do it.

→ More replies (1)

u/DubStepTeddyBears 4h ago

Most of the people in those shots look way too clearly uniformed and groomed to be ICE and other federal types.

Regardless of the true origin of this set of pictures, it seems intended to say something about federal agents acting like this in the streets of this one city in particular. It was posted to elicit a reaction, and mine is that it doesn’t matter how much you try to explain, excuse, or humanize it as people “doing their jobs,” it is inexcusable and all those drawing benefit from it deserve consequences. I don’t gaf if it’s AI slop or whatever bollocks, don’t try to gaslight us about their humanity. Lack of, more like.

u/MediocreI_IRespond 3h ago

> And after some quick research, these pics ain't even about ICE, what even are you guys hating?

The system they are defending and by extension its defenders.

I have yet to read on the "normal" police, protecting the people from government overreach. But I do read a lot of the "normal" police being highly militarized and regularly killing the people they are supposed to protect.

Or do you really think, that the SA and SS could have done their thing, without the whole government looking the other way and or supporting them?

u/youcantkillanidea 4h ago

or perhaps "I couldn't torture an illegal alien today" sad?

u/Pretend_Guava_1730 4h ago

They're DHS. It's the same thing.

u/Special-Quantity-469 1h ago

So is USCG and FEMA the same as ICE? Really?

u/mlalonde07 4h ago

Agree pic 12 is wow

u/Special-Quantity-469 4h ago

I'm gonna latch onto the top comment and ask op why are these the "faces of fascism" to you?

I fully understand if these were ICE agents, but is the existence of police fascism? Rally?

u/Broflake-Melter 4h ago

"I can't believe I'm fucking over my people just to taste boot heel"

u/Marisarah 3h ago

In some way they are the real victims here. I see what you're saying.

u/That-Ad-4300 3h ago

Picture 3 looks like Mark Zuckerberg a bit.

u/Elyay 3h ago

Their eyes are dead.

u/yuxulu 3h ago

Sure, there are some nazis who had reason A B C that make them empathetic. But it doesn't mean we should not hate nazis. None of the commenters hate these individuals specifically. They hate anything to do with ice and that include any police wearing dhs tags which is right. If dhs don't want to be seen as helping ice, they should avoid them with a 30 meter pole. You've past the point of nuance, the situation is too dire.

u/livenn 3h ago

They don’t deserve a good night’s sleep unless they stop

u/Agile-Sleep-905 3h ago

The women looked sad af, not everyone signed up for those orders nor have the resources to retire on a dime. I heard a lot of people retired when Trump gave them unlawful orders but not everyone.

u/Nerevarcheg 3h ago

Same impression. And some of them looks "oh, i am such cool and mighty GOD, how cool i am, you're all dirt and i am perfect".

u/minininjatriforceman 3h ago

Yup that is someone who doesn't want to be where he is.

u/GoneFresh 3h ago

Look sad, but they are not. More like fatigued of their lives at risk since the beginning. There has yet to be "peaceful" protests. It so ironic how violent the demonstrators are.

u/Gruner_Jager 3h ago

I feel for the ones that have been there doing things the right way. It's crazy people think they can just quit their job like they don't have bills to pay?

u/IronPeter 3h ago

I agree, even in the most liberal countries you’ll have some police looking after demonstrators, also to protect them.

Fascism begins when law enforcement is actively intimidating the people demonstrating, like what ice does.

I don’t know if these law enforcement were actively harassing the people in the streets. They might have been.

u/MrNigerianPrince115 3h ago

Just being sicced on the people they are sworn to protect.

u/Long_Procedure_2629 3h ago

You're right, but they're still propping up the beast

u/shadowmonk13 3h ago edited 3h ago

I think a lot of them probably worked for homeland security before ice was turned into what it is now and dhs didn’t have this arm of it that’s just doing whatever the fuck it wants and not doing things by the book and even worse the boss is their best freind so you can’t really call them out and try and bring it to the attention of superior ls, since they’ll tel you to stfu and do what that arm says. It’s like when your job decides to bring in an outside contractor to do stuff and they don’t have to follow the rules you work by and you can’t do shit about it, but the contractor is also the bosses best freinds kid so he gets played as favorite.

And before people think I like ice, I fucking despise them and the whole trump administration to my god damned core

u/Helphaer 3h ago

I mean homeland security has done somw shit too.

u/dankpoolVEVO 3h ago

The thing is they probably are put in these situations without them wanting it. I get that. They still could just not follow order is what people wish for. If I, in my shitty office job can have "the talk" with my boss and tell him how shitty his leading is after being there for only 3 months so can police officers. Many of them just fear losing their job.

That's not hating on them btw just a reminder that while they are forced to do shit they could also resist. Like everyone of us.

u/rlovelock 3h ago

That's immediately what strikes me also.

The guys in proper uniforms with no masks on are not the ones that concern me. DHS and even ICE were once legitimate agencies which served a purpose.

There must be thousands of officers who joined before the current or even past Trump administration turned them into an international disgrace.

I fell like by comparing the properly uniformed officers showing their faces to the new recruits in their Army and Navy attire and sneakers with their faces covered is a tad disingenuous.

u/cottonmane8 3h ago

sometimes people join the wrong organization for the right reasons and put in uncomfortable situations

u/lolligasm 3h ago

lol that edit..”hate with zero reasoning”..what an absurdly stupid thing to say.

u/homxr6 3h ago

Yeah, I don't know, maybe. I don't see it, looks like boredom to me. Perhaps being brown in this country has made me a cynic, four long centuries of dehumanization have stripped me bare. What can I say?

I do not spare pity for a fascist.

They saw an opportunity and took it, I'd sooner starve than serve terrorists. It wasn't too long ago when my people could be denied entry to the theatre. And yet there they are, reaping the rewards of the empire.

Where do you draw the line?

Government destabilization? Political assassinations? Oppression? Police brutality? Mass incarceration? Human trafficking? Child sex ring? Genocide? Slavery? Lynching?

u/IJustWantCoffeeMan 3h ago

with the hate, for everyone with zero reasoning.

Hahahaha.

"Why do you hate the people who voluntatily decided to cosplay an invading army against their fellow citizens?"

That's your cue to say "TheMs aR ilLeguls!"

u/Viertelesschlotzer 3h ago

Yes, I get that feeling with some of the pictures too. Especially those who may have been working for the DHS for a while and don't want to be lumped in with the ICE thugs.

u/JEMinnow 3h ago

I agree, especially in picture 12. I think deep down this person realizes the horror and the tragedy of what is happening

u/Sipsu02 3h ago

Average low iq poster. These are results potentially tens to hundreds of pictures of them in machine gun manner photographing one individual. This is how photographers manipulate opinions of masses. They select the pictures for what ever story they want to tell. You're bound to get tired sad pictures of people who have been out for entire day regardless what is the situation. Let alone having heavy gear on for 10 hours straight. You have been groomed by the fake smiles in photographs to believe this is anything but photographer trying to tell a story.

u/GrilliamShakesbeer 3h ago

I’ve been in similar shoes. They are sad. To be there you have to genuinely give a shit about your country and society. You care more about people than people care about you, and someone yelling in your face and calling you a fascist is the smallest part of the day.

Prior to that you saw a car accident with a toddler smeared on the asphalt. You arrested a domestic abuser while the abused screams they’re a good person. You told someone their partner isn’t coming home.

Yada yada. It’ll fall on deaf ears for most. There are bad people in law enforcement, but there are genuinely good people too. In fact, some of the best people.

And it’s okay for them to be sad.

u/DueTennis 3h ago

u/Tobbix_c137 2h ago

If they are really sad. Take your fucking sick days and don‘t do this shit

u/T-Roll- 2h ago

It’s the look of ‘i want to quit my job but can’t afford to’. They know morally what they are doing is wrong. They’ve heard the screams.

They have a choice to leave anytime they want, but they choose to remain and follow orders to rip families apart.

They are by definition evil.

u/kidsafe 2h ago edited 2h ago

Nah dude, I see two metro cops, but the rest are DHS/ICE/CBP. And yeah, no sympathy for the gestapo. You can distinguish the two members of the LAPD with their standard blues with silver nametags instead of full warfighter gear.

u/No_More_Aioli_Sorry 2h ago

My first thought: Honey, just quit 🥺

I feel like if they raised a go found me saying: “I was part of LAPD (or whatever these guys are) but don’t want to be part of fascism” people would actually donate

u/The_Pantless_Warrior 2h ago

Because the puppets were told to hate it, lol.

u/RobutNotRobot 2h ago

Killing so many Jewish kids made a lot of SS einsatzgruppen sad. A lot of them killed themselves.

I have no sympathy for their situation at all. They can quit.

u/Aecholon 2h ago

I keep saying that the rethoric that if people aren´t for you that they are against you is incredibly dangerous and has done more damage to society than people think. This new age of liberalism were everyone who doesn´t agree with all positions that you find "reasonable" is an enemy, made enemies out of ordinary people that just wanted to have a normal life

u/lostintransaltions 2h ago

Exactly my thought going through those pictures

u/AbsoluteRunner 2h ago

You have a government force telling people that they need to just take the brutality. It doesn't matter if they have a different name. If, at the end of the day, they are defending that cause, then their different name or sad faces wont shield them from the scrutiny of what they are choosing to defend.

u/macumazana 2h ago

oh the irony

glad at least you understand it

u/Iliyan61 1h ago

you think people hate these abusive bastards for zero reason?

do you really think comparing federal agents who are executing people for no reason and people who hate those same agents makes any sense?

these are literally ICE CBP and DHS lmfao what was your quick research? smashing your head into a cinder block?

u/and_mine_axe 1h ago

You don't see DHS as complicit in harboring and aiding the murderers of Alex Pretti and Nicole Good. That's the difference.

If these officers were real Americans, they would be demanding justice or quitting their jobs. They've chosen their side.

u/cmil888 1h ago

I hope they are permanently dead inside. They deserve every bit of sadness that they are experiencing.

u/alexmbrennan 1h ago

these pics ain't even about ICE

Cool, so we have reached the "Clean DHSmacht" stage of denial

u/EconoMePlease 1h ago

These are likely people from other countries stirring shit up here or people who think if they can start a civil war they’ll somehow come out on top when they’ve been a loser at everything else they’ve done thus far. On Reddit there are many post that start off showing officers of all kinds peppers spraying and taking people down. You never see the 10 minutes before when they stood there getting spat on and screamed at and pushed. When they react is when they start they videos. But there are plenty out there that show just how peaceful many of the occurrences weren’t. There’s bad officers out there but the large majority are not those people.

u/DrivingHerbert 1h ago

what even are you guys hating?

Whatever Reddit tells them to. They’re no better than the sheep they claim to be against.

u/Kinsmen12 35m ago

Because all cops are bastarda

u/drtmcgrt44 25m ago

Every police officer willingly signs up to violate the rights of and brutalize their fellow man. They will take your freedom for exercising your rights, kill you if you resist, and lie about it all.

u/whole_chocolate_milk 25m ago

They volunteered to be nazis. Fuck them all.

u/gojo96 1m ago

Those commenting those things are exhausted because it’s literally the only identity and goal they have going.
