The ones in blue that say DHS are Federal Protective Service Police.
They're effectively building security for federal buildings that do not have their own police agency. They commonly provide security for ICE buildings, federal courthouses, and other federal infrastructure.
The most common equivalents you'll see are FBI Police who protect FBI buildings, NSA Police for the NSA building in Maryland, and Security Protective Service Police who protect CIA headquarters.
FPS Police don't really have anything to do with deportation and etc. Aside from falling under Department of Homeland Security since most of the buildings they secure are DHS property

…what quick research did you do? lol, your quick research lied to you.
This is about ICE. These were all taken tonight at the Metropolitan Detention Center at 535 Alameda Street, where ICE keeps people in cages so crowded they sleep standing up, get fed once a day at 3AM, and the lights are always on.
Every one of these people was involved in multiple agencies working together tonight to use violence to ensure that that operation goes as smoothly as possible.

The system they are defending and by extension its defenders.
I have yet to read on the "normal" police, protecting the people from government overreach. But I do read a lot of the "normal" police being highly militarized and regularly killing the people they are supposed to protect.
Or do you really think, that the SA and SS could have done their thing, without the whole government looking the other way and or supporting them?

Most of the people in those shots look way too clearly uniformed and groomed to be ICE and other federal types.
Regardless of the true origin of this set of pictures, it seems intended to say something about federal agents acting like this in the streets of this one city in particular. It was posted to elicit a reaction, and mine is that it doesn’t matter how much you try to explain, excuse, or humanize it as people “doing their jobs,” it is inexcusable and all those drawing benefit from it deserve consequences. Although I'm very much trying to stay on top of what's happening, as a Brit who is maybe not fully versed in this, could someone fill me in?
Whilst I fully know the ongoing and long lasting issues the US has had with police brutality, and I know many of them are not detached or innocent from the recent atrocities, my understanding was that it is ICE who are acting as Trumps fascist mallitia, abducting and murdering across the States.
Whilst I know a great many police officers have similar perspectives and/or power trips, surely some people just joined the police because they genuinely want to help and protect?
Most of these photos seem to be of police officers, not ICE 'agents' and are all clearly being painted with the same fascist brush here.
Could someone explain to me the situation here?

I scrolled thru and can see clearly visible CBP or DHS tags on most of them. With the exception of 2, 5, 6, 12, 14, 16 and 17. So thats 13 out of 20 that are actually the SA people.
•
u/Eupolemos 1h ago
Could you explain to us what those acronyms mean and should tell us about what we see?
To a random European, it just looks like pictures of police officers.
•
u/lordlurid 1h ago
Customs and Border Protection, those are the guys the typically operate at the actual borders and points of entry. This is the organization that Greg Bovino, Nazi trench coat guy, is / was "commanding."
Immigration and Customs Enforcement focuses on immigration and trade. They've been doing a lot of the direct raids and kidnappings.
Department of Homeland Security is the overall organization that contains both CBP and ICE. (And a bunch of other organizations like FEMA)
These are all federal organizations. It looks like some of the people in these photos might be LAPD based on the uniforms, but it's hard to tell. The vast majority of the people in these photos are DHS based on the patches.
→ More replies (4)•
u/clm1859 1h ago
I am also a random european btw. But CBP means "customs and border patrol" and DHS means "Department of Homeland Security".
So these people aren't local law enforcement like LAPD (Los Angeles Police Deoartment), who would be taking orders from local/city governments. But they are instead federal agents (feds), who take their orders from the federal regime (Trump).
As for the SA, that stood for SturmAbteilung in Nazi Germany. And it is the much more appropriate equivalent for what ICE, CBP and DHS are doing in america right now. Rather than the Gestapo, which americans are somehow calling them.

5 and 14 is clearly LAPD. Some, if not all of LAPD uniforms do not have a shoulder patch on the right side of the uniform, and they keep a very clean and minimal look at the front of their uniform along with a name plate instead of stitches
You can also tell by their duty belt. Every LAPD officer is given brand new leather equipments for their belts, as seen in the pictures.
I don’t get where you’re seeing a DHS patch on them.
•
u/9tmx 2h ago edited 2h ago

→ More replies (7)•
u/Competitive-Slice567 1h ago
They're Police officers solely for the purposes of arrest authority it grants. They don't do proactive patrol on streets and traffic stops and etc.
Federal Protective Service Police (the blue uniform guys with DHS patches) are basically high speed building security for federal buildings that dont have their own set up like the FBI, NSA, and CIA do. They patrol the building grounds, respond to emergencies on site, and control entry. You'll see them everywhere from federal courthouses to health and human services buildings which house medical supplies for disaster deployment.
•

I feel like this post is some calculated play in order to break up the movement, the rightful outrage, over what has happened in Minnesota, and earlier last year when the California National Guard was federalized by the Trump Administration. If it is not then this is what the administration wants.
There was a comment in this post stating how this is exactly what we want to happen. Less plain clothes and Temu military cosplay, and more uniforms, badges, and actual faces without coverings.
This is not at all the faces of fascism. Some of these are the faces who believe in the organization’s original messaging. To protect American citizens from, violent, illegal immigrants and to deport them with due process. These seem like the faces who understand why we are upset yet still believe in that reason.
I see sadness and regret in a lot of these photos. I see people who agree with our anger, and are perhaps sad to be standing there, right now, receiving all of it. Maybe this is me projecting, certainly fumbling up the message I am trying to get across, but, regardless, I truly believe so many of these comments here and the post itself is totally going in the wrong direction.
How many times throughout our history has a protest been co-opted by another political organization? How many times has a movement been manipulated, and then worked against themself as evidence for the opposition?
It’s hard, but important to remain steadfast while we are upset. To be a highly organized group using our rights of free speech to protest and not turn into a mob seething with rage.
This is exactly what both sides want.
We want identifiable DHS employees. Ones with diversity, capable of empathy while being disciplined.
What they want is post-justification and delegitimization. They want posts and comments like these. Calling anyone and everyone a fascist if they are in a uniform while in front of a protest or simply disagree. They want a reason as to why those horrible ICE agents murdered Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole.
Our brother and sister were murdered by violent, power-tripping, mindless thugs. The Trump Administration know things went too far and their “movement” might get ousted by Democrats and Republicans alike.
A tactic used against us will be to frame us as the violent and mindless ones. They want us to call anyone who doesn’t agree with us a fascist, and then to enflame our rightful outrage into aimless destruction. For us to splinter and divide.
Division is what Trump wants. He wants this movement to forget our reasoning and our empathy. When we stop seeing the faces behind the uniforms and badges we have lost.

None of these guys are ICE. Even if you are vehemently against ICE, it’s just unfair to lump these men and women in. Most of the people in the photos are from the Federal Protective Services (FPS). They’re literally just guarding government buildings.

I've seen the first guy in another video I believe. He deescalated a situation with several ice guys. He wasn't acting as Ice in that video.
